The LESGO partners visit Israel
The LESGO Consortium met last December in Tel Aviv, where the team celebrated its second general assembly.
During the two-day visit, partners had the opportunity to visit GenCell premises. The day started with a lunch at the company cafeteria, followed by a guided tour around the facilities. Partners visited the laboratories and workshops and listen to researchers explaining their daily activities and experiments. Special attention was paid to the most recent basic research experiments.
In the afternoon, the Consortium celebrated its general assembly, where each work package leader had the opportunity to present an overview of the progress made in the past months.
Using graphene oxide to store hydrogen
Amaya Ortega from Graphenea and Bilal Gökce from the University of Wuppertal presented the progress in WP2, where they synthesized different graphene oxide materials and sent them to the partners. Amaya gave more details about how they have used different chemical routes and opened a discussion about the scaling-up conditions and protocols. Prof. Gökce also explained the work they have been doing to characterize further and scale up the nanoparticles.
Then, Nina Carretero from IREC presented the two milestones achieved concerning the electro-anode and the copper cathode. She explained how the team characterized and developed the three anode materials and presented the results of the development of the cathode. She also talked about a new cleaning protocol for reduced graphene oxide.
After a short coffee break, both Freddy Liendo from HySyTech and Victor Rodríguez from IREC presented online the latest advancements in the development, design and manufacturing of the prototype, which HysyTech will ship to the IREC facilities for further testing. The meeting ended with DBT project manager Rasmus Mikkelsen explaining the upcoming actions and centered around the LESGO workshop, which will be celebrated in spring 2023 in Copenhagen.
The next day, the meeting took place in a rooftop conference room in Tel Aviv. Partners heard an overall assessment of the LESGO reach and impact, in terms of communication and dissemination actions, during the first part of the meeting. Nello Pira from CRF gave an institutional presentation about Fiat and its capabilities. Luis Guillermo Guerling from ICFO benchmarked LESGO with other technologies and presented, proposing to develop a mapping ecosystem with the interested stakeholders and discuss potential applications.
In the frame of WP5, Carles Ros from ICFO presented the experimental results and measurements made in collaboration with CNR, who quantified the hydrogen desorption barrier, as Francesco Delfino explained.
The next Consortium General Assembly will take place later in spring 2023, where partners will update the rest of the team about the latest developments.
