Prof. Dr. Bilal Gökce wins the 2020 Berthold Leibinger Prize
Prof Dr. Bilal Gökce has been awarded the third place of the Berthold Leibinger Prize 2020 for the LESGO-related research “Scaled-up Nanoparticle Synthesis by Laser Ablation in Liquids for the Chemical Industry and Additive Manufacturing”. Prof. Dr. Gökce is a Heisenberg-Professor of Materials Science and Additive Manufacturing at the University of Wuppertal, and his research group explores the applications of laser-generated nanoparticles, focusing on their use in additive manufacturing and energy applications of the nanomaterials. He shares this recognition with his colleague Prof. Dr. Stephan Barcikowski, from the University of Duisburg-Essen.
The Innovation prize, one of the most prestigious awards in the optics and laser research fields, is granted biennially by the German non-profit foundation Berthold Leibinger Stiftung. From all the applications received, the jury, composed of respected experts from science and industry, nominates the best and most deserving work in the field. The selected candidates are invited to a meeting event to present their work in person.
In a short video production made by Leibinger Laser Prize, Prof. Gökce and Prof. Barcikowski explain a bit deeper the insights of their study.
